HomeAid

Calabasas, Calif., March 21, 2007 - It is one of those unique blends of talent and opportunity that comes along and is not only fun, but also does a lot of good.

HomeAid, which partners with the Building Industry Association, is teaming with the 9th annual Method Fest Independent Film Festival to auction off a state-of-the-art model firehouse that comes complete with central heating and air conditioning. Proceeds will benefit HomeAid's drive to find shelter for the temporarily homeless and the Festival.

The model firehouse will be auctioned off at the Premiere Gala at the Auto Gallery on Saturday, March 31. The gala begins at 9 p.m., following the Centerpiece showing of "Man in the Chair," starring Christopher Plummer.

"The firehouse has been generously donated as a fundraiser," said Don Franken, Festival Executive Director. "It's 10 feet by 5 feet and is a fully functional firehouse model. It is beautiful."

HomeAid is a movement designed to address the need for shelter by those less fortunate. In partnership with the Building Industry Association, builders and their associates donate in-kind labor, materials and services to build and renovate transitional housing for the temporarily homeless…emancipated foster care youth, a parent seeking safe haven from domestic violence, a child removed from an abusive home, a pregnant abandoned teen, or families and individuals who quickly lose their safety net when a life crisis occurs, such as sudden illness, job loss or desertion.

HomeAid partners with care providers that offer the necessary life-changing support and skills for the 88,000 temporarily homeless in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties to regain their self-sufficiency, providing a safe haven for hundreds, and ultimately making a significant and positive impact on communities in a basic, vital way.
